On September 2, 2024 at 1:30 p.m., Ms. Thanphicha Theraratchanon, Director of Office of Agricultural Economics Region 2 (Director of ROAE2 Phitsanulok), attended 2 meetings as follows:
1. Subcommittee on Agricultural and Cooperative Development in Phrae Province, Meeting 1/2024 at the Archives Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Phrae Provincial Hall, Nai Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province, chaired by Mr. Kunakorn Kotchahiran, Deputy Governor of Phrae Province.
Objectives
- To be informed of the water situation Progress of the agricultural and cooperative project implementation results of the province
- To consider the (draft) agricultural and cooperative development plan of Phrae Province (2023 - 2027) revised for fiscal year 2026
On this occasion, the Director of ROAE2 presented the report on the agricultural economic situation in the second quarter of 2024 and the outlook for 2024 of Phrae Province to the meeting for acknowledgement in order to use it for planning and improving operations to be in line with production conditions and to manage products effectively.
2. The 5th Provincial Agricultural Work Promotion Committee/2024 chaired by Dr. Suphawan Petchsri, Phrae Provincial Agriculture and Cooperatives Officer
Objectives
- To be informed of the flood situation and the impact on agriculture in the province
- To consider the compensation plan for farmers affected by floods after the water recedes
The meeting resolution agreed that various agencies under the Phrae Provincial Agricultural Office support production factors in accordance with the department's mission. As for rice seeds, assistance is divided into 2 forms:
1) If farmers are already growing dry season rice Will receive seed support as requested.
2) If farmers do not grow dry season rice due to limitations in area and water sources, they will receive rice seeds to plant in the wet season. Because if they plant now, the season is not conducive, the rice plants may be stunted, resulting in no yield.
In order to consider the plan to plant alternative crops to replace rice, in the case that rice fields are damaged by floods, the meeting resolution agreed that the plants, livestock, and fisheries agencies should urgently survey the damage and collect data on the need for correct plant and fishery species to be sent to the relevant agencies for further action. The consideration of the types of seeds to be planted must consider the adequacy of the water source and the suitability of the weather conditions according to the season, especially after-season crops such as legumes. Mung beans may not be suitable for planting in late-February, but soybeans, etc. should be selected. However, factors or marketing situations of each type of product should also be taken into account, such as demand, price that farmers can sell, purchasing points in the area, etc.
