The Regional capacity building workshop on geospatial applications for crop biodiversity During the 21st – 23rd of August 2024, Director of Agricultural Geo-Informatic Division under the Center of Agriculture Information has been participating in the regional capacity building workshop on geospatial applications for crop biodiversity at the Mangshi, Yunnan, Republic of China. In this workshop, the OAE’s representative had an invitation to present in the panel discussion in the topic “Utilization of space applications for crop biodiversity: Current practices and trends”. This program was run with the representatives from UNESCAP, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and AIRCAS. Furthermore, the opportunities and potential for improving crop diversity through innovative space applications were discussed in terms of methodologies and techniques by lecturers from academic institutions. Country implementation approaches for CropBio, scheduled for 2024 and 2025 in three countries which are diverse in crops and ecosystems - the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, along with country implementation plans. Finally, the field surveys were also conducted to enhancing the perspectives of space technology innovations for crop diversity monitoring.
