ROAE2 attended the 8th/2024 Agricultural Disaster Committee meeting in Nan Province
On Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., Ms. Thanphicha Theraratchanan, Director of the Office of Agricultural Economics 2 (Director of ROAE2 Phitsanulok), along with Ms. Wiphawan Thipma, Policy and Plan Analyst, attended the meeting of the Agricultural Disaster Monitoring and Resolution Center Committee in Nan Province via a teleconference using the Zoom Cloud Meeting application, chaired by Ms. Kanokorn Saeng-Arun, Nan Provincial Agriculture and Cooperatives Officer.
In this regard, ROAE2 presented a video clip reporting on the forecast of agricultural production and marketing situations that will be released to the market according to the season of Nan Province, publicizing the “2024 wet season rice insurance project” at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. Continued from the Ministry of Finance, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives approved the project and allowed BAAC to sell insurance policies at all branches nationwide, piloting 63 provinces (expires on July 31, 2024, except for the South, which expires on December 31). There are 2 types of insurance policies:
1) Tier 1: Basic insurance is a premium that the government subsidizes by 60% and BAAC subsidizes by 40% for customers, covering 20.5 million rai. The premium will be different if the customer is a BAAC loan customer (premium 115 baht/rai for all areas) or is in the pilot area of 63 provinces, 689 districts (premium 70 baht/rai) or is in a medium-risk area (premium 199 baht/rai) or is in a high-risk area (premium 218 baht/rai). They will receive compensation. From natural disasters 1,190 baht/rai and pests 595 baht/rai
2) Tier 2: Voluntary insurance means farmers purchase additional insurance for 0.5 million rai. The premium will depend on the risk level of the area, including low-risk areas (pilot) with an additional premium of 27 baht/rai, medium-risk areas with an additional premium of 60 baht/rai, and high-risk areas with 110 baht/rai. They will receive compensation for natural disasters of 240 baht/rai and pests of 120 baht/rai.
