ROAE 8 Undertakes Extensive Field Study on "The Strategic Study on Organic Agriculture Development for Agritourism" as Part of a broader agenda aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural practices
On January 14 - 20, 2025, Mr. Nikorn Saengket, Director of the Regional Office of Agricultural Economics 8 ( ROAE 8 ), entrusted Mr. Satapol Sukontachad, Plan and Policy Analyst, Practitioner Level, along with Mr. Kritsada Saelim, Plan and Policy Analytical Officer, from the Agro-Economic Development Planning Division of ROAE 8, with the task of conducting an extensive field study. This initiative forms part of the project entitled "The Strategic Study on Organic Agriculture Development for Agritourism" as Part of a broader agenda aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural practices, expanding economic opportunities, and reinforcing income security for Thailand’s agricultural sector of Fiscal Year 2025.
This field visit focused on the following key agrotourism destinations: "Suan Sanook (Fun Farm) Café and Trail", located in Tham Nam Phut Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phang Nga Province, under the proprietorship of Mr. Sakon Buthong; Likewise,"Baan Suan Kru Mam (Liang Island)", located in Nopphitam Subdistrict, Nopphitam District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, owned by Ms. Sirirat Phumduang.
In pursuit of comprehensive and empirical insights, ROAE 8 conducted in-depth interviews with agrotourism business proprietors, visitors to these establishments, and relevant governmental agencies. Among the distinguished participants were Mr. Songyot Nakrit, Chief Executive of the Tham Nam Phut Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mr. Somchock Innarong, Chief Executive of the Nopphitam Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mr. Manoon Namjun, Officer from the Nopphitam District Office of Tourism and Sports, and more from their teams. These supporters engaged in substantive discussions, offering perspectives on the development potential of agrotourism destinations, strategic frameworks for supporting organic agriculture as a tourism sector, and the feasibility of both ongoing and prospective initiatives projected for implementation by 2027, and so on.
